In 1988 to commemorate Millenary of the Baptism of Russia a young composer, student of vocal faculty of Kharkov Institute of Arts Igor Sahno wrote All- NightVigil and the Heavenly Liturgy, for uniform trio. Talanted musitians, students of the same Institute: Violinist Igor Chernyavsky and future Chorus Master Vyaehesiav Martsinkov got interested in his new output. So under the direction of Igor Sahno there was born a trio turning in due course into Ensemble SRETENIE (Candlemas Day or Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary) whose main priority became searching for the trustful image of prayer corresponding the position of Orthodox Faith while singing church chants. Gradually this truthful image of prayer during worship services, and concert performances had been discovered in the depth and wealth of Stolpovoy, Byzantine and Georgian chants.
